If you need to renew your DACA immigration status, then our experienced immigration attorneys can help. They have helped hundreds of clients in the last decade.
What Is DACA Immigration Status?
Originally established in June 2012, the DACA program functioned as a deportation defense and relief that protected immigrants who were brought to the United States as children. DACA is an immigration status that protects undocumented immigrants from deportation because that immigrant came to the United States as a child. Under DACA status, immigrants are also eligible for a work permit. Immigrant status under DACA must be renewed every two years.
Who Is Eligible For DACA?
The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is no longer accepting new DACA applications for first-time applicants. To be eligible for DACA status, the applicant must have met the following criteria:
- Be under the age of 31 on June 15, 2012
- Immigrated to the United States before they were 16 years old
- Prove that they resided continuously in the United States since June 15, 2007, to the present
However, if you already have DACA status but need to renew it, then the USCIS will accept your application. It will also accept it if you previously had DACA status that was terminated, but you still meet the DACA qualifications.
